The question if wild animals should live in city zoos is a question that has come up quite often. There are multiple opinions, pros and cons to the safety and welfare of the wild animals. Zoo officials do not take notice of the harm in keeping the wild animals away from their natural environment, they contemplate it more as keeping the animals in a safe environment where they can thrive and acquire the utmost care. Not everybody has the same mindset on this issue. Many animal rights activist groups and well educated citizens continue to educate the media on the topic of the harm and dangers of keeping wild animals in zoos. They strongly feel it is animal abuse to keep such animals contained in a space that is not even close to the magnitude that they require and accustomed to. Spielberg not only uses these tools but also showed stereotyped images in his characters. In my critique I wish to point out some uses of realism, formalism, and stereotypes in the movie Saving Private Ryan. In my eyes Saving Private Ryan is a masterpiece. Even though the movie is nearly three hours in length, it is evenly distributed and takes on a powerful subject. Private Ryan wasn't merely another war movie, I really felt it caught the soul of war. The film begins with a half-hour sequence of the landings at Normandy on D-Day. Many films have portrayed this D-Day scene, but have failed to me in realism. In Private Ryan, realism portrayed in a nearly exact replica of war. To achieve this Steven Spielberg displayed the battle scenes, as the next step could be the moment of death. Limbs are blown off in mid-shot; guts splay out of uniforms and onto the sandy beach; soldier in mid-sentence are startled by bullet holes blossoming on their foreheads. Although I feel this movie is reaching for a grander scale, as an attempt to make the war movie more realistic and less Hollywood-ized, Private Ryan is often shockingly effective. There are moments in this film where I thought, what was about to happen couldn't happen in a Hollywood movie, let alone a Steven Spielberg movie and then, unbelievably, it happens. All and all, I Roberts 3 loved every hour of Saving Private Ryan. Seeing this movie after a few Cinema Appreciation classes I seem to have caught things that would have other wise been looked over. Such as, realism, formalism, and stereotypes to which built a good foundation and created a good movie.

We should put the blame where it belongs, on the U.S. Government who lied, cheated, and stole from the Indians forcing many Indian leaders to surrender not only their tribes but their nation in order to save the lives of their people. Among the Indians of the Pacific Northwest, perhaps the best known may be Chief Seattle. Chief Seattle (more correctly known as Seathl or Sealth) was born sometime between 1786-1790 on Blake Island at the campsite of his ancestors. Blake Island lies south and a little east of Bainbridge Island and west and a little south of Seattle. Seattle was the son of Suquamish leader named Schweabe and a Duwamish woman named Scholitza. He became Chief of the Suquamish, Duwamish, and allied Salish speaking tribes by proving his leadership qualities in a war that pitted his and other saltwater tribes against those of the Green and White Rivers. (1) He was considered to be Duwamish since his mother was the daughter of a Duwamish chief and the line of descent passed matrilineally. Boo Radley is one of the main characters but doesnt make an appearance until the very end in this novel. At first, to Scout, he is just a scary figure that only comes out at nights and likes to eat cats. Scout, Jem and Dill fascinated by this scary monster all have games where they would see if Boo Radley would ever come out.
